*Lauren Conrad*
Lauren Katherine Conrad was born on February 1st, 1986. Her hometown friends in Laguna Beach dubbed her “LC” for years until she finally admitted to preferring Lauren more. Born in Newport Beach, California, Lauren grew up under her parents caring guidance. Jim Conrad is an architect (who actually designed the Conrad family house) and Katherine Conrad manages his business.
Lauren is the oldest of three children, with 17-year-old Breanna (who starred in Laguna Beach: Season 3) and a 14-year-old brother named Brandon. On her website (laurenconrad.com) she sites her parents as having a major influence in her growing up stages.
“My mother taught me to focus on being myself and not to worry what other people think about you. I know that as long as I’m a good person, I’ll stay on the right path. From my dad, I learned that when someone tells you ‘No’ it’s only the beginning of a conversation. They both have always let me know that I can do anything I want to do as long as I don’t give up. They are the most important role models in my life because they are exactly who I want to be when I grow up. They are supportive and understanding and I try everyday to remember what they’ve taught me.”
Beginning her television premiere as the narrator to “Laguna Beach: The Real O.C.” her senior year, Lauren quickly became known as the classy trendsetter in the bunch.
Even today she still finds it semi-weird to be noticed in public.
“Sometimes it’s weird walking into a crowded place and seeing people look at you and whisper. But I like it when fans come up and say nice things to me. I’m always amazed at the type of fans that we have out there. I’ve talked to grandmas at airports, middle-aged men and (of course) tons of teenagers. It’s very flattering that they will have nice things to say to me and always ask me what I am doing next.
After leaving behind Laguna Beach High School and her close set of friends, Lauren attended the Academy of Art University in San Fransisco to study Fashion Design. One semseter later, Lauren departed and travelled to Los Angeles. In the fall of 2005, Lauren surprised all of her fans with a new slice-of-life reality show labeled “The Hills.” This new show would surround Lauren in LA while she tries to get back on her feet after leaving home, San Fransisco and a bunch of friends behind, and search for a new start in her life. During the filming process, fans saw Lauren attend classes at Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising and earn the golden opportunity to work as an intern at Teen Vogue.
Prior to moving to LA, Lauren met and became instant friends with Heidi Montag at the Academy of Art University’s freshmen orientation program. The two dropped out and moved to LA to become roommates. Briefly working at Three Dots, a clothing company, Lauren continued studying fashion when “The Hills” began its filming. During this time she accepted an internship at Teen Vogue and soon got back together with old flame Jason Wahler. They stayed together until August 2006.
The second season of “The Hills” featured rough times with Lauren and roommate Heidi, as Lauren witnessed her roommate spending more and more time with suave boyfriend Spencer Pratt. By the end of the season, their frienship and nearly detoriated as Heidi chose to move in with him. Soon after, neighbor and friend Audrina Patridge became Lauren’s new roommate and best friend.
“The Hills” Season 3 is currently in the filming process. It’s season premiere episode debuted on August 13, 2007.
